Obscure Words in English, Illustrated

Click here for a very cool illustrated dictionary of obscure words in English as featured in Italy’s Il Post (thanks Alisia!). The graphics and content of A-Z of Unusual Words come from two Cork-based Irish designers who call themselves The Project Twins.

“Bold graphics and visual wit are used to interpret and represent a collection of strange, unusual and lost words. These images explore the meaning behind the words, which are sometimes even more strange or unusual. This project explores the synthesis between form and content, and words and images with the aim of producing work that is both visually interesting and informative.”

For example, when I’m not experiencing writer’s block I might describe myself as scripturient. In the wee hours of a Saturday night, I’d claim to be experiencing a bout of tarantism.
